Brookline Early Education Program

Starting School

Our goal is to create a smooth transition to school and help your child adjust in the best way possible.  To do this effectively we have arranged for the following.
  • Individual meetings for parents/guardians and students with the teacher
  • Smaller groups on the first two days of school
Individual Meetings: Your child’s teacher will schedule a time for you to bring your child to school. This will be a special meeting time for you and your child to get acquainted with the teacher and the classroom setting as well as to receive information about the start of school.  It is also an opportunity for you and the teacher to begin planning for your child’s educational program.  You will receive confirmation from your child’s teacher regarding the date and time of your meeting.

It is important to bring the following items to your meeting.

  • A small photo of your child
  • A small family photo
  • A change of clothing labeled with your child’s name
  • Enclosed BEEP Walking Field Trip Form
Smaller Starting Groups:  In order to provide a comfortable start, we divide the class in half for the first two days of school. Having smaller groups for the first two days will allow teachers to give additional attention to each child.  We have found that this procedure contributes to a successful start to the school year.
